AI Surveillance Shield and Anti Drone Technology Watch for 77th Republic Day Security

India has made all preparations to celebrate its 77th Republic Day and Kartavya Path in New Delhi is set to witness historical moments. The grand parade to be held on January 26 is not limited to just cultural grandeur and display of military might. Instead, the state of the art technology adopted in the security system this time will proclaim the technical capability of New India to the world. The Delhi Police and the Union Ministry of Defence are jointly utilizing Artificial Intelligence or AI technology extensively this time along with traditional police arrangements.
Around five thousand CCTV cameras have been installed at Kartavya Path and surrounding sensitive areas. These are not ordinary cameras that just capture visuals. Instead, they are equipped with Artificial Intelligence software capable of analyzing crowds in real time. These cameras can identify the faces of suspects or individuals with criminal backgrounds even amidst lakhs of people. Arrangements have been made to compare them with photos in the police database and send alert messages to the control room within a few seconds. This enables security personnel to wake up immediately and prevent potential danger.
Significantly, this state of the art AI surveillance system has been developed entirely by an Indian startup without the help of any foreign company. This mirrors the success of Atmanirbhar Bharat and the Make in India initiative in the defense sector. Technical sources have stated that this technology is not limited to just facial recognition but also has the capability to perceive crowd behavior and abnormal activities.
Along with ground security, greater emphasis has been laid on aerial safety this time. Since the fear of drone attacks has increased in recent times, the indigenous Anti Drone technology developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation or DRDO has been deployed. This system can detect any unauthorized drones, small aircraft, or flying objects entering the airspace of the parade area from a long distance. If found dangerous, it has the capability to disable them right there by jamming them through soft kill or shooting them down using laser beams through hard kill. Successful experimental trials of this have been conducted in the Delhi airspace over the last two days ensuring air safety.
Digital security is as important as physical security. During national festivals, there are possibilities of spreading misinformation on social media or releasing deep fake videos that disturb communal harmony. Special cyber security teams have been formed to prevent this. They are keeping a hawk eye on the internet world and are ready to stop any objectionable content immediately and trace the source if found. Overall, the Republic Day of 2026 is emerging as a wonderful confluence of India's rich heritage and future technology.
